Addis Wiley - Sports Enthusiast and Experienced Chess Player

A retired bus operator based in Staten Island, New York, Addis Wiley worked for over two decades for the New York City Transit Authority, transporting passengers through the five boroughs of New York. Before starting in this role in 1997, Addis Wiley worked for two years in the construction industry.

From 1998 to 2002, Addis Wiley studied Bible studies at the R. C. Lawson Bible Institute. Since 2002, he has been an ordained elder for The Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in New York. He is commissioned to perform all Christian functions, including marriage, funerals, and serving Communion.

Mr. Wiley has always been a sports enthusiast, and he continues practicing even after retirement. He also enjoys watching football, baseball, hockey, golf, and soccer. In his high school years, he led his Varsity Basketball team in scoring and won the Public School Athletic League Championship twice. Furthermore, he received the Honorable Mention All-Star Boys Basketball award in the New York Post. In 2019, he coached the basketball team at the Susan E. Wagner High School for the 17th Annual Unity Games.

Addis Wiley is also an experienced chess player. In 2015, he won the Martin Luther King Chess Tournament at St. Philips Baptist Church. He continues to practice and consistently reads chess books. His other interest is traveling, particularly on cruise ships.
